Camp Pendleton was officially dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 25, 1942, as a major training facility for United States Marines preparing for combat. Today it encompasses over 125,000 acres, making it one of the largest Marine Corps installations in the country. The base maintains 17 miles of oceanfront and serves as the headquarters for the I Marine Expeditionary Force, the primary Marine force projection unit of the United States military.

The base conducts year-round training across multiple branches of the military, from amphibious operations and field exercises to specialized weapons training. Its diverse terrain—spanning coastal areas, oak woodlands, and interior ranges—supports comprehensive training operations. Camp Pendleton's presence extends beyond its borders: military families live throughout Oceanside and surrounding communities, contributing significantly to the local economy and shaping the character of the region.

Military families and career service members face unique financial planning challenges: frequent relocations, deployments, family separations, and changes in income and benefits over a career. Many military households carry specific financial obligations—mortgages backed by military benefits, education funds for children, or family support arrangements. A term life policy sized to cover these obligations protects the financial stability that military families have worked to build.
